Microsoft to Shutter Office Live Small Business May 1 2012

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft today announced it would shut down Office Live Small Business (OLSB – see our review here) on May 1 2012.

Office Live Small Business will be replaced by Office 365, which was announced in October 2010.

For small business owners that have not yet transferred to the new service, Microsoft is offering 6 months free of Office 365 for professionals and small business and Office Professional Plus.

Together with Office Professional Plus, Office 365 attempts to be an all-in-one solution by offering Office 2010 desktop (including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, OneNote, and PowerPoint), as well as email, document-sharing in the cloud, instant messaging and a hosted-website-builder.

Microsoft has created a self-help transition guide for existing users.
